29/10/2018
It’s rare.
Serious causes of low back pain are rare – less than 1% of cases and only some of these will be caused by cancer.
What are the signs that your low back pain might be cancer?
Having one of these symptoms does not necessarily mean you could have cancer, usually there will be more than one sign or symptom.
- Pain that is constantly severe no matter what position you are. It is not possible to get relief.
- Pain that wakes you up at night and keeps you awake.
- Waking up in the night with excessive sweating – usually wringing wet bed clothes.
- Recent unexplained weight loss.
If you have any of these symptoms seek medical advice.
There are many reasons for severe low back pain, if you are concerned you should see your GP, osteopath, physiotherapist or chiropractor all of whom are trained to look for serious causes of low back pain.
