How does the menopause affect my body?
27/03/2019
Oestrogen deficiency which occurs with the menopause results in many changes in your body:
Your skin can become more dry, thin and start showing wrinkles. You may notice unwanted body hair. Skin healing may be slower.
You may notice your hair thins on your head, legs, arm pits, and pubic hair. You may gain some hair on your face.
Urinary frequency, cystitis and incontinence can increase.
Joint and muscle pain are common.
Your weight may change but this is due to ageing rather than the menopause. You will find your body shape changes as a result of the menopause with increased body and abdominal fat.
