Is rest best for my injury?
15/04/2019
At one time the advice for injuries was to rest. People with back pain would be confined to bed rest for a week or two. A sprain would be rested. Research has now shown that moving as soon as possible with an injury speeds recovery. It helps blood flow which aids the healing process. People with back pain are advised to keep moving regularly. When you have an ankle sprain the best advice is to keep moving the ankle and walk on it, with support if needed, as soon as possible. Even with broken bones when people have simply visualised moving and using their limb it has helped maintain muscle tone and speed recovery – amazing isn’t it!
So the conclusion is that movement is best for injuries.
